For the BC Pavilion during the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, Alex Beim was assigned the role of Experience Director for the digital media room.
We worked in collaboration with Creative Director Sara Bailey to concept and design the interactive room. The whole project came together in under two months. The idea for the installation was to show the "making of" several digital master pieces made in BC. Some of them included Special Effects for District Nine, Special effects for Invictus, EA Need for Speed, a preview of the game Tron, etc.
Tangible was also in charge of designing and fabricating all 12 multi touch screens that covered 4 sides of each of the 3 interactive cubes in the room. We created a number of multi touch applications programmed in Open Frameworks and Cocoa to showcase the works in a natural interactive way. We used Community Core Vision from the NUI group (an Open Source blob tracking application)
The pavilion received over 5,000 visitors every day during the 17 days the show was open.
