/stay cool at Squamish Festival
//story
Summer festivals bring people together and celebrate the beauty of art. More often than not, though, the art is usually seen and heard, but not touched. We wanted to change this and design a fully interactive piece for Squamish Music Festival 2014, which took place in the sweltering heat of August in the gorgeous Squamish Valley of British Columbia.
We created MIST, a geodesic shape with water valves at each vertice that spray out in different directional patterns. Made from aluminium composite, Mist’s mirror-like surface reflected the surprise on a person’s face as water splashed out and cooled them off. Through the day, crowds formed around the sculpture and it became a regular spot to get a little refreshment and respite from the sun during the hot summer festival.
MIST was commissioned by Vitamin Water and designed in collaboration with Jeff Hamada from booooooom.
